Baby milk intolerance?

Hi guys,
Could anybody please give some advice. My 8 week old son has been constipated only going the toilet every 4 days. His poo has also turned a dark green which the doctor said is his digestive system going too slow. I took him the hospital as he usually goes a couple of times a day and he has been so upset and restless when he is usually really chilled. The doctor said going 4 days was not normal and gave him movicol. This does help and he has started going the toilet but he could only use it for a week. Now the week is up and his poo is still green and he’s constipated again.
Does anybody think this could be an intolerance to his milk? The doctor hasn’t said this is what it is even though I’ve asked them a good few times. A lot of my friends however said the symptoms sounded similar to their children’s intolerance to cows milk.
Anybody been through something similar?
Thanks

Very possibly. The most likely is CMPA. Is he formula feed? There is a great CMPA Facebook page.

Hi, thanks for your reply. What is CMPA?

Do you find his rash gets worse after feeding? My DD (8 weeks) was diagnosed with a dairy intolerance yesterday and she got a rash after every feed on her cheeks and neck, she also had diarrhoea in the middle of every feed, sicked up regularly and was clearly very uncomfortable with grunting, wheezing, gasping for breath and a lot of fidgeting. She never slept peacefully. She’s been on the dairy free formula half a day now and the difference is already really noticeable. Keep pushing for it if that’s what you think it is - it took us three doctor appointments and two wrong diagnoses before we finally got there. Good luck!

Cow milk protein allergy.

Get allergy tested to put your mind at rest. But for balance my beast fed dd had green poo and wld only poo with tummy massage. No allergies and it passed as she grew. Don't remember it going past 5-6 mnths

There is no test for none iGE allergies. The only way to tell is to remove the allergen for 6 weeks and the reintroduce it. For a ff baby this needs to done by using prescription formula.

My DD is 12 weeks now and been on prescribed milk allergy formula since 2 weeks old and we are just waiting for the allergy tests to be done next month but her symptoms were lime green, foul, sulphur smelling poos that we’re almost liquid and would come before she had even finished a feed. A rash over her face, neck and top of her torso which got worse after a feed. Coughing, choking, constant grunting/blocked up nose. Like a PP said, within half a day of her being on it there was an improvement and now we have none of these symptoms and she’s a much happier baby.
Call your doctor and speak through the symptoms and see what they say.
