Head shaking

My ds is 10 months old and for the past 3 days he's started either moving his head from side to side in a sort of jerking motion or just jilting it down putting his ear to his shoulder. It almost looks like a tick! I imagine he's too young for proper ticks but just using this as an example of what it looks like.

Anyone have any idea what he could be doing? Or anyone's children done anything similar?

Thanks 😊

I personally would be seeing a doctor next week

Could it be ear ache? Maybe he is just getting used to being able to control his head.

Make an appointment to see the GP and look for any changes in his temperature, expressions and movement, or of any discomfort.

My 9 month DS does this a fair bit and has done for a few months - it's usually when he's tired or has teething pain. When he first started doing it I was a bit curious/concerned, but he's totally fine otherwise and from a quick google apparently the head shaking can soothe from the tiredness / pain

I didn't think of toothache but it would make sense.

Thanks everyone 😊 he is teething at the moment as both his top teeth have just broken through, and he's not napping properly because of it! So it could definitely be a mixture of pain and tiredness!

Oh bless. Poor little mite. Hope he gets a good nap.

@KirstenBlest thank you!! I hope so too, for both our sakes 😂

My DD (12 months) has been doing the head to the shoulder thing the last few days and I didn’t know why (thought she was trying to dab tbh 😂).. she has a cold and is teething though so I’m guessing it’s down to that!

I would get it checked. There are some types of epilepsy (myclonic) which present similarly.

It's hopefully just teething!
