Acting out after finishing breastfeeding

I stopped breastfeeding my 16 month old 5 days ago, I had gradually reduced and he was only having a few feeds in the night. Did anyone else's child act out when you stopped nursing? He's having a lot more tantrums, is slapping me, and generally extremely clingy. This isn't a thread about why I stopped so please refrain from telling me to continue.

Any sort of change to routine can upset behaviour for a while. He'll settle into the new routine soon enough.

Is he sleeping ok without the night feeds? If not, maybe being tired is contributing to his behaviour.

@NuffSaidSam yes sleeping is OK, he's waking still but getting better at accepting a cuddle back to sleep now.

I have a 16 month old, she has been the devils work today and I'm still feeding her. I think it's a combination of more teeth coming, frustration and learning too much too quickly. So I feel your pain, so not necessarily connected to the stopping. I'm impressed you have though, my DD feeds so often. I do don't offer, don't refuse but she asks a LOT.

@imgoinginsaneinthemembrane yeah maybe it's an age thing too, testing boundaries. He was the biggest boob a holic ever so it's no surprise he's acting out really!
