Bottle feeding when out

Please can you share what to do?

I have the perfect prep machine for home - but a bit confused what to do when out for more than a couple of hours. Lately I've been using readymade bottles but this is much more pricey!

I always used the ready made bottles when out and about. I know it works out a lot more money but I used to always justify it by thinking well if I'm out I may buy myself a coffee or another type of drink so it's no different to that really. I just found it easier always having a couple of ready made in the changing bag.

If I knew I was going to he somewhere with hot water facilities I would take a sterilised bottle with formula powder measured out into it.

I only ever use ready made formula, so much easier

I used to take a flask of boiling water, a bottle of cooled water and an empty bottle, and made it up in the same way as perfect prep- boiling water, powder, cool water
Bit of faff but I agree, the ready made stuff is pricey

I used to take a flask of hot water ( bought a new life venture thermal mug) and spare cheap sterilised bottle with boiled cooled water, the formula measured out in a mam dispenser and the correct number of clean bottles I needed.
I was only topping up and it was a faff as DD needed prescription formula so no ready made.

I take ready made if we're out for the day (though there is a supply issue at the moment apparently which is stressing me out!). If I know baby will have one in the next hour or so, I'll make one with the prep machine and then just pop it in my bag.

I'd use ready made tbh but my dd had lactose free milk at one stage and I would have a bottle of boiled water in a flask and a bottle of cooled boiled, and I would mix it like a perfect prep.
When I just used ready made though I would make a bottle when I was leaving the house as I could use that within, what, two hours?

I only use ready made, even at home. It’s so much easier ( and yes, more expensive too ) but at the moment I choose convenience over the costs. Maybe when he will get bigger and will need more milk I will change my mind but for now I’m happy.

I used to take those big flasks that kept water hot for 24hrs but now I just take ready made milk with me. I also use the ready made milk at night/morning as soon as she gets up.
She used to wake up at night for feeds and cry so loud, didn’t have time to make formula so the ready made milk was convenient.

I have the prep machine too but I found using the pre made bottles expensive. I make a bottle using the kettle water (left for 30 mins) as stated on the formula box. I then put it in an Insulated bag with frozen blocks. I take a plastic jug and a flask of boiling water and then just warm the bottle in the jug. It says on the nhs website the bottle lasts for 4 hours! X

I used to run the perfect prep into a thermos flask, and take the measured out formula in a formula dispenser pot and make the bottle up that way. Did it for a year and it worked well for us if it was a long trip I'd take a thermos with boiling in too to top it up if it needed it

I have 2 chillys flasks. Boil kettle before going out, pour into a jug and leave to cool, once cooled transfer into flask 1. Boil kettle when leaving for flask 2. Scoop formula into little dispenser pots at correct oz.
when out add hot shot from flask 2, add powder, swirl, then top up with cooled water. Just like the prep machine. If she will need a bottle soon after leaving, I usually make one up and take it with me, in a insulated pouch. We are on prescribed CMPA formula so no option for ready made.

I have made a flask of boiled water (left for 20 mins before) and then pour that in bottle and add formulae then put in a jug of cold water to cool but it was taking ages to cool! I like the idea of a second flask with cooled boiled water so thank you!

I take the amount of bottles I need for however long I'm out, ds is 10 months so usually only 2 tops. He has 6 ounce bottles so I have a flask of boiling water and put 3 ounces of boiled water in each bottle before I go out (so it's cold by the time I use it) then add 3 ounces of boiling water when needed and it's the perfect temperature 😊 easier than taking the cooled water separately as well!

@H8624 🤦🏻‍♀️ Just realised that you mean about mixing the formula, not warming bottles, so that probably won’t help, sorry! 🙈
