Hi all,
I'm looking for suggestions on what to put in a new mommy hamper. I want the items to be for Mother as many gifts will be provided for the baby.

What would you have appreciated as a gift after giving birth ?

TIA xx

Hand cream
Healthy snacks (plus a bit of chocolate!!)
Meal or cleaning voucher.
A magazine
A spill free coffee/tea cup or water bottle if she prefers cold drinks

Thank you. The non spill coffee cup is a great idea... never would have thought of that thank you x

In a hamper I had the most thoughtful things were Calpol, snuffle baby etc as it’s something you just don’t buy until you need it - and often the first time you need it Is in the middle in the night!

Homemade freezer meals would be my most wanted item along with someone to help with the housework or watch the baby while I slept or had a bath.

Hand cream and bubble bath could be nice though and maybe a sheet mask.

Big comfy pjs or dressing gown. My friend got me a grey stripy pair from m&s. So comfy!

If she is planning to breast feed, cooling gel nipple pads. I didn't discover them until it was too late.

Chocolate, lots of it.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 02/05/2021 08:13

Or whatever kind of sweets or crisps she likes.

A face mist
Dry shampoo
Netflix subscription
Nice lip balm
Bath stuff
Cook do a new parents package which is great
A water bottle
Lounge wear clothes
A little handheld fan

Lidded coffee cup is a great suggestion.

Also lip balm.

Notebook and pen (I writes tons of lists as couldn't remember anything those first few weeks 🙈)

Face mist another great idea

Dry shampoo!

Slipper socks

Chocolate especially if you know she will be breastfeeding for the midnight wake ups

Slipper socks

Contigo flask - keeps your tea hot for hours. Hand cream for all the hand washing.

bunburyscucumbersandwich · 02/05/2021 08:23

I would want someone to cook and clean for me over a hamper!

A comfy but sturdy pair of slippers.
A good cushion for taking naps on the sofa when baby naps.

TheMotherlode · 02/05/2021 08:29

A water bottle that you can open one handed, I often found I was trapped under a sleeping baby and couldn’t unscrew the lid to my bottle with only one hand.
A coffee travel mug so it stays warm and you don’t have to keep remaking/drinking cold cups of coffee.
Some nice snacks
A really good moisturiser (I remember my skin being incredibly dry)
Lansinoh/multimam compresses if breastfeeding

Thatwentbadly · 02/05/2021 08:48

I agree with all of these. Some nice shower gel, maybe the super moisture santuary one.

Thank you everyone. These suggestions are awesome. I love the idea of anytime use vouchers (created by me) for a cooked meal or cleaning sesion at home. And the frozen meals and the items to help with breastfeed.

Thanks again!

Thing is, such vouchers, I'd feel bad about calling you to cook me a meal or clean my house, whereas, if they were Gusto or Hello Fresh vouchers, I'd use those.

Chocolate, too. Some people don't care for sweets.

Very good point! Thank you
