I'm absolutely clueless about car seats. Can my baby now front face? What should I get?

No its safer for them to stay rear facing. What seat are they in?

They can forward face from 9kg BUT there are a wide range of extended rear facing seats available now which is much safer.

It's best to keep them rear facing for as long as possible so it's definitely worth researching :)

At 9 months it is highly unlikely your baby has outgrown their infant seat. My off-the-charts big DS1 (he was half a kilo above the top line on the graph when he was born) fitted in his until he was 12m. I would then go for a seat that can rear face until at least 4. We had the Maxi Cosi 2 way pearl, then moved onto the Britax 2 way elite when they outgrew the Pearl.

I think they have to rear face until 15 months legally, it's recommended that they stay rear facing until age 4 though. I had my first in a Joie 360, it didn't last that long as he was high on the percentiles so I have moved him up into an Axkid minikid (rear facing until 25kg) and my 11mo is now in the 360.
Facebook has some useful car seat safety groups who can advise on which seats to avoid and which are plus tested.
