Little Ones with Enlarged Liver/Spleen?

MummyofBaby · 30/04/2021 08:37

Dear Mumsnetters,

I would like to know if any of your little ones have experienced an enlarged liver and spleen with high cholesterol levels, high liver alt levels and low muscle tone?

I would be grateful if you could tell me the following:

  1. Cause/Diagnosis (e.g. virus, genetic, etc)?
  2. Did the symptoms appear right after catching a virus?
  3. Treatment?
  4. How are they doing now?

Also, have any of you used Indian Ayurvedic medication under a doctor/practitioner as treatment and how did it go?

Thanks,
Mummy of Baby

No personal experience, but didn't want to leave this thread unanswered.

Do you have a provisional diagnosis (has a full blood count been done?) and do symptoms include easy bleeding (bruising or gums), lots of infections, being tired or breathless, night sweats, joint/bone pain?

Hi,

Yes a full blood count has been done and is fine. However, cholesterol levels and liver alt levels are quite high.

He doesn’t have any of the other symptoms you mentioned.

He did catch a virus (either Cytomegalovirus or Parvovirus or both) from someone and since then these symptoms erupted. Just very worried and looking for answers and anyone with similar experiences.

Just want him to get better so wanted to know if anyone’s child experienced these symptoms and were a result of a virus, genetics, etc?

Thanks.
