My baby has just turned 1 month old. For the passed week she has refused to sleep at night at all. From around 8pm onwards she just screams. She will scream for 8 hours or more none stop. She doesn't want to feed much at night either. Nothing soothes her. I have tried everything. I mean EVERYTHING. Apart from leave her to 'cry it out. And most of the day she is the same just for shorter amounts of time with some moments of calm when feeding or taking short naps. I am running on maybe 3 hours sleep a day its making me unwell from the lack of sleep. Im also worried this amount of crying is hurting her. She clearly isn't a happy baby I feel so awful I can't seem to do anything for her. Anyone else have this issue? I feel so alone in this.

I could have written your post a few weeks back. My DD was exactly the same and if I remember correctly, my DS was the same at the same age. Every night from around 4:30/5pm into the night just constantly crying with no real reason. Seems, unfortunately, that it’s normal. In our case (both times) it stops within a week or so, around 5/6 weeks. I feel for you I really do, it’s so hard that first few weeks. I’m afraid I don’t have any suggestions as we just had to ride it out

Oh OP, sleep deprivation is so hard. Is there an indication baby has reflux? Or perhaps a milk allergy? For now, can you get a short break for a couple of hours of sleep while Dad has her? I am sure you have tried it, but would a sling help? In a dark room, with white noise on while you rock or pace? Are you BF or bottle feeding? My 10 month old has had a feed and is asleep on my chest, so I am up awake here with you - you're never alone as a mum up in the night I primrose you, we are all here with you! And you're doing a fab job Thanks

Are you burping her enough after feeds? I find if I don’t manage to get 3 good burps out of my LO and then hold him upright for 20 mins, it turns into trapped wind a bit later and then he screams.

Book an appointment with a cranial osteopath. Best thing we did for our LO. She’s turned 8 weeks today, but from 3weeks old she was so clearly uncomfortable and in pain, poor sleep and cried lots. Started to see an improvement after one session. After three we were signed off (I’ve also had treatment for my back with the osteo) and she’s like a new baby - as is my back! Best money I’ve spent!

Could it be colic? I remember my eldest used to cry from 7pm Non stop till 2-3 am. Mentioned it to the health visitor and turned out that it was colic . I was breastfeeding so had to be very careful with what I ate and she was given colief? drops. I used to sleep first half of the night and then DH the other half. It was a tough couple of weeks but it did get better. Speak to your GP or health visitor

pronxcessxo · 27/04/2021 03:15

have you been using infacol every time you feed, and burping the baby?

tortoiselover100 · 27/04/2021 03:23

My daughter was like this, it lasted about 6 weeks. It's colic. You'll get through it, but it is awful Thanks

Emelene · 27/04/2021 04:17

Have you spoken to your health visitor or GP? Just to make sure it is “just” colic and not something else?

Sounds so hard OP. You are doing the best you can for your baby. Be kind to yourself xx
