Please tell me what your 1yo baby eats

My baby is 12 months and I’m so stressed about his diet. How am I meant to know if he’s eating enough and having the right things? A typical day for him looks like this:

Breakfast: porridge with stewed apple/pear OR one small slice of brown toast with peanut butter and a couple of strawberries.

Lunch: avocado on toast OR scrambled egg on toast OR pasta with veg sauce and cheese. One tinned peach or a couple of chunks of watermelon for dessert.

Dinner: beef casserole or fish with potato and veg. Ten raspberries for dessert.

Drinks: water with all meals, plus two bottles of formula.

You don’t need to worry about how much. I just offered until they had enough and let them feed themselves so they choose. Just give lots of variety. We tried a new thing every day as much as possible. So a new fruit or a new veg etc.

DD pretty much ate whatever we ate, so variety that way. At 12 months she was having:

Weetabix with cows milk, toast, fruit
Whatever I had for lunch-could be absolutely anything from a sandwich to a main meal.
Dinner-curry, chili con carne, pasta, cottage pie, fish pie, pizza, sausages, roast dinner were her favourites-but basically any dinner. We just cooked without salt and used low salt stock.

Fruit and veg we tried as much as we could on rotation-some she’d eat and a lot went on the floor which is fine. It’s all exploration and what they eat doesn’t really matter.

My DD is 1 next Sunday and yesterday she had:-

Breakfast:- 5oz milk, 1 weetabix with cows milk, a pouch of fruit purée and a biscotti biscuit

Snack:- banana rice cake

Lunch:- Tomato and mozzarella spaghetti, a yogurt, banana and orange chunks

Snack:- 6oz milk before nap

Dinner:- chicken curry and rice, apple and banana purée and a oaty bar

6oz of milk before bed.

Mostly she has those 12m+ trays but I give her things like cheese toastie, veg (she loves broccoli and cauliflower), scrambled egg, fruit etc. But she still has 3 bottles a day as well.

Mine will have toast for breakfast and milk, or some fruit and less toast, weetbix.
Lunch will be a sandwich, or pasta, or a plate with different things like cheese/ham/cucumber etc.
Dinner is whatever we eat.

He'll also eat snacks in between. Strawberries, banana, mandarin, cheese, olives, yoghurt.

I just feed him until he starts throwing his food, generally then he's full. If I'm eating he will always come over and stare at me and then take my food Grin

Sounds fab! I would carry on. Most kids/babies will let you know when done/hungry!

Sounds great, don't stress about quantities. Just keep up offering varieties of everything- tastes, textures, colours. The more you can get them used to the more chance you stand when the toddler fussiness hits!
