Hi all,

We're currently saving up for a house and it really eats in to any disposable income we have so we can't go out all the time so was wondering what free things you do with your kids that they love?

Especially with summer coming around now..

We do a lot of walk oriented things such as trying to find troll/fairy hideouts, we've been to places with castles and tried to find clues about the prince or princess who lived there, finding frogs, fishes and apparently sharks on the canal (really cheesy things but the kids love them) sometimes we'll spend the day in the garden with the garden you or stay inside and play games, paint etc etc what else can we do? I'm just looking for ideas

Thank you :)

What ages are your kids?

Most summer days include:

  • Scooter/bikes
  • play dates
-picnic in our local park
  • playground
  • Build a den outdoors
  • Make an obstacle course
  • Walk in our local woods
  • Paddling pool when it is hot
  • Teddies picnic in garden with plastic plates, cups but real food eg hula hoops and a jug of squash so kids can pour and eat
  • peg the laundry on the drying rack outside
  • water the garden
  • dig in the veg patch to find worms and bugs
  • make fruit juice ice cubes in an ice cube tray then eat them
  • play football / catch/ frisbee / throw bean bags ar a target
  • wash the car, wash the windows, wash the garage doors

"Doing the dishes"
Movies with popcorn

When DD was tiny I used to take her on exciting trips to Pets at Home Grin.

A lot of the above - picnics, walks, feeding the ducks, home movie nights but our big favourite is sea glass hunting!
