Struggling with four month old and sleep

Ds is four months. Since being about eight weeks he’s slept reasonably well at night - he does wake up (which id expect) and this used to be twice then was once. He’d go from 9 to about 2/3 am. So that was really good.

The problem is once he’s awake it takes absolutely ages to get him back into his crib. He just wants to lie on me Smile which is sweet in a way but exhausting as he’s up at 6 usually. If I put him back before he’s in a deep sleep he just cries. So I have to hold him for an hour.

This was manageable once a night but he’s now waking at around midnight, then at 2, then 5.

I really need to get him back in his crib a bit faster - any ideas?

Can you safely cosleep? It’s best that you read up on the lullaby trusts safe 7 if you are being your lo into bed with anyway.

I really don’t want to cosleep to be honest but in any case it won’t help: baby has to be on me before I can put him down whether that’s in his crib or my bed.

Sounds like 4 month sleep regression - it shouldn’t last forever!

I hope not but it’s always taken him ages to go back in his crib.

Does he have reflux at all? My baby wouldn’t go in her cot laying flat, always wanted to stay on me cause of her reflux. Laying flat was uncomfortable for her.

He does but it’s not an issue at night. Have no idea why.

@Aliceandthemarchhare Have you tried raising the head of the crib so he’s not flat? Worth a try 🤷🏼‍♀️

What’s with the 🤷🏼‍♀️ ?

@Aliceandthemarchhare 🤷🏼‍♀️ as in I’m out of ideas and that’s my last suggestion!

He woke at 1 and still won’t go back in his crib Sad

Does anyone have any ideas what to do? I’m exhausted.
