Baby wearing while mowing the lawn?!?

I just had to stop my husband mowing the lawn while wearing out 5 month old in a sling! It's an old, loud petrol lawnmower and she had no ear protection. I told him to stop and he is acting like I'm the mad one and what he was doing is perfectly fine. I don't think I'm over reacting, am I?

Yeah, no I wouldn't be having that either! It is nice that he enjoys baby wearing. Perhaps he thought it would be interesting for the little one or something?! He is BU.

No , your man is a nutter .

I think men can sometimes just be a bit dim with stuff like this...I had to stop my partner using the strimmer with my DD running around in the garden...she was terrified of the noise and I came running out to get her and ask him what the hell he thought he was doing and he said "ohhh I thought it would be fine!".

Oh my goodness, last summer I strapped my baby to my back and mowed the lawn, was the only way it was getting done. She slept through the noise and I figured she was pretty well protected from stones etc being thrown up nestled on my back. Worked for us!

Yabu to say 'baby wearing'.
You are not wearing the baby, they aren't a garment. You are carrying them.

I honestly can't believe you took time out of your day to write this - maybe go enjoy your weekend instead of policing how people choose to write a completely normal sentence Hmm

Mine were terrified of the lawnmower until about 4yo.

Electric mower, baby on back... Probably ok. Loud Petrol mower with fumes, baby on front.. bigger risk.

NailsNeedDoing · 24/04/2021 10:23

No, you’re not over reacting at all. Too loud for a baby and there’s the risk of bits flying up and hitting the baby or getting in their eyes.

MsMarple · 24/04/2021 10:25

Why would anyone operate sharp edged machinery with a child attached to them? Accidents happen so easily. Also the fumes from petrol mowers aren’t good to breathe in for anyone, let alone a tiny baby!

Thanks everyone! He's really great with her and loves wearing her (thanks @MaMaD1990). I think he thought he was being efficient getting two things done at once! I showed him the dB levels a lawnmower makes and he now agrees it might not have been the best of ideas without ear protectors for the little one. She was in a soft sling at the front too, I hadn't thought of fumes or stones!
