My baby is 3 weeks old. He was a few weeks early and he's bottlefed. He hasn't had a poo since Monday and he seems to be in pain Sad. He keeps making these weird grunting noises and just crying. Earlier we couldn't get him to settle as he just kept crying

Any advice will be appreciated.

Call 111 and get an appointment with an out of hours GP. In the mean time try bicycling kegs and a warm bath.

What Thatwentbadly said. I was breastfeeding when this happened to ds and my mother told me to drink prune juice. Something worked, anyway.

Bicycle legs, tummy massage. A bottle of ready made formula usually helps as well if you're using powdered.

Put them in their nicest outfit too. That's guaranteed a poonami in my experience.

Foot massages! Baby on lying on its back, you raise their legs to massage the feet. Supposedly there is a reflexology point below the balls of the feet, or it might just be pushing their legs up into a frog position that does it.

Newborns not pooing need to be seen by someone medical - GP, midwife if you are still under them or your HV.

We gave him a warm bath and as soon as we got him out he started crying and would only settle if one of us was holding him as whenever we put him down he cried so now he's asleep in partners arms.

Has he seen a doctor yet? He really needs to.
