I cannot believe there are people out there who let their toddlers eat packets of sweets like haribo! Today I saw a family of kids each with a large bag of haribo running around the park. Am I over the top?!

Yes. Mind your own business

OverTheRainbow88 · 22/04/2021 15:41

Maybe it was a birthday party

EvilOnion · 22/04/2021 15:41

O.M.G. won't someone think of the children?! Sad

What's your issue exactly? Choking hazard? Health? Teeth? Expense?

To each their own in my opinion

YukoandHiro · 22/04/2021 15:48

😂😂😂😂

ODFOx · 22/04/2021 15:52

Meh
My eldest would potter in the garden crunching on raw courgette sticks as a toddler. Now at 21 lives on ramen and cheese toasties.
It's all relative if you consider the impact of the bag of haribo over a lifetime. Just not worth worrying about.

beachlife9 · 22/04/2021 16:09

@MeridasMum I was just thinking of the sugar and how completely unnecessary it is for children to be eating sweets in excess like that.

Yep, like main lining heroin.

Spied · 22/04/2021 16:14

I feel the same OP.
My pre-teens seem to think a £1 bag of haribo is one portion. I think they should make it last a few days.

Topjoe19 · 22/04/2021 17:04

Were you jealous because they wouldn't give you one? 😂

Somethingsnappy · 22/04/2021 17:13

Haribo mach Kinder froh und Erwachsener ebenso! Grin

Tsubasa1 · 22/04/2021 17:24

Lol

PenfoldPenny · 22/04/2021 21:14

You've only just noticed this happens?

Chelyanne · 22/04/2021 22:18

I can't believe there are parents that buy their kids ice-creams at the park pmsl

Yes you are OTT

doodlejump1980 · 22/04/2021 22:31

There’s one parent who picks up child from school and gives him one if those big bags daily. Kid is only 7 or 8. Far too much sugar.

Brieminewine · 23/04/2021 10:42

Call social services now! Those poor children!

Goatsgetmygoat · 23/04/2021 11:28

I hope they were organic

I let my 16 mo DS eat chocolate (organic, dark, without palm oil preferred) occasionally because the alternative is they go chocolate crazy when they get meet relatives and can’t regulate. I want DS to consider chocolate just a normal food.
rainbowthoughts · 23/04/2021 11:35

Am I over the top?!

Yes. Of course you are.

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 23/04/2021 13:13

Yes, totally over the top. Most kids eat sweets at some point and frankly, after the year we’ve had, why shouldn’t we all enjoy a treat? All refined sugar is “unnecessary”, but most people enjoy a cupcake, bar of chocolate, ice cream etc, and why not?

Amielondon23 · 23/04/2021 13:18

You need to get a life and mind your own business.
Concentrate on your own kids and don’t judge others.

CoalCraft · 23/04/2021 13:20

I quite fancy some Haribo now. The cola bottles are 👌

Stichintime · 23/04/2021 13:21

Used to give my kids sweets sometimes at the park, so they could burn it off before home time and dinner. Better than giving them sweets and watching them bounce off the furniture!

MaMaD1990 · 23/04/2021 13:24

I don't do it but I certainly wouldn't be twitching if someone else was - yes it's unhealthy and bad for their teeth etc but you have no idea if this was just a one off - not that it matters really, it's none of your business!

PlanterGents · 23/04/2021 13:27

I think it’s a bit odd too OP. I don’t think any child should be running about at a park with treats. Playing is for playing. Not eating bloody sweets. I assume that you also Ken’s those big packs too! Who would give a child the whole packet 😖 just grim.

A little party sized pack is fine though, as it’s moderation. Those big bags are disgusting to see children with
