Has anyone had a baby become really poorly due to milton steriliser tablets? My steam steriliser recently broke down so until the new one arrives used to milton tablets they smell like bleach even after rinsing before use, my daughter is 7 month old and for the past 24 hour since using them tablets to sterilise she has been sick after every bottle and it not herself at all

I’ve never used them (unhelpful!) but I’ve used the fluid diluted with all 4 of mine at various points and although it did smell of bleach they weren’t sick. Didn’t rinse either (I think it said you didn’t need to, and I figured the rinse water wouldn’t be sterile?)
Are you using the right amount of water?

I’ve used them and never had a problem. Stop using them and boil bottles in a big pan of water for now to sterilise, see if this helps. If you think she’s unwell from it you should probably be calling 111 too.
Hope she’s on the mend soon

If there's a chance you've not diluted it correctly you need to go to a and e - she could have swallowed some

They do smell of bleach and I don't like them for this reason, but they've been used for years and they really shouldn't call illness if properly used.

You are not supposed to rinse them as bacteria in the water used for rinsing negates the sterilisation.

I use Milton tablets and never had an issue. I use them with the Milton tank and fill it up to the highest line and use 1 tablet. Maybe you haven’t used enough water to tablet ratio? It should be 1 tablet to 5 litres of water.
