H&M baby sock sizes - confused!!

I wondered if anyone could help me with H&M baby sock sizes. They seem to come in 000, 0, 0.5-2 and onwards but no mention of approx. ages. I ordered a pack of 0.5-2 hoping they might fit a 3 month old and they look massive! Does anyone understand the sizing please? Would like to buy socks in 0-3 month size.

Their size chart gives the actual length of the foot, so probably best to get your measuring tape out. Cross-referencing with other shops seems to suggest that 0.5-2 would be for 3-6 months.

I think they are shoe sizes, not ages.
