First time mum here, Is this normal?

She gets 3 solid food meals and a snack a day. She has a long feed in the morning, a long feed before her afternoon nap and a long feed before bed. She drinks water with her meals as well.

She doesn’t seem to be looking for anymore feeds and is a very health weight. Although she would happily feed away until she burst if I offered it.

She also mostly sleeps through the night so I’m assuming she isn’t hungry.

Probably overthinking things but wondered if anyone had a similar experience

Sounds fine to me. At 10 months my daughter dropped her afternoon feed so now it's just first thing and last thing. Like you I was initially concerned but she's doing great.

Seems normal to me.

Mine had milk in the morning and evening only at this stage. I went back to work at 7m with my second and so this was all I could do.

I’m not breastfeeding but my 11 month old DD only has 3 bottles a day and has done since 9 months!

Thanks for your reply’s. That’s really reassuring.

One of NCT friends gave me a bit of a talking down to about it Confused

My little one has always been in the 98th percentile so I’ve never worried about her feeds but this got me thinking.

BF babies tend to take in the same amount at this age whether you feed 3 times or 20. Everything sounds perfectly fine to me, they all have different BFing preferences Smile

That’s a good point, I suppose if she was only feeding for short burst then she’d probably be looking for a feed more often xx

At that age my daughter was at a childminder in the day. She was fed before going, on my lunch break and at bedtime (and once in the night but that stopped at 11 months). She was offered three meals and two snacks but didn't eat much till 10 months. At weekends we only offered meals and she had two extra breastfeeds to replace the snacks.

That’s interesting, my daughter will be going to a childminder in June and was wondering how it would work out with feeds.

I’m still feeding her to sleep for her afternoon nap so will hopefully be able to stop this before I go back to work

I didn’t breastfeed but my DD dropped to 2 milk feeds a day by 9 months. First thing & bedtime. The daytime was just food. She was and still is a big eater, loves food. Was eating 3 solid meals at 9 months plus snacks & water. Just make sure your little one is getting plenty calcium, yoghurts, cheese etc!

Far easier if your little one prefers food. Obviously milk is still important & breastfeeding is for comfort as well, so very different. But ultimately the goal is your child eats a healthy, varied died where milk is a refreshing drink, maybe a source of comfort to fall asleep or if upset etc but not a food replacement.
