What does your baby’s routine look like

Hey guys,

My baby is 12 weeks old and has no routine at all. I think it’s time to establish some sort of routine.

How old is your baby and what is their routine? Please include feeding times, activity times, nap and bed time.

My baby is 5 months and it goes like this

Wake 6.30
Feed 7
Play and Nap (I don't time naps I just don't have him awake for longer than 2 hours)
Feed 11
Play and Nap
Feed 3
Play and Nap
Bath Feed Bed 7

At 12 weeks we had little routine. Fed on demand, napped on demand, no ‘activities’ but I would sing to her, shake a random toy in her face, all naps on me.

She’s now 5 months and she’s fed on demand, naps on demand, 95% of naps on me, bath 3 times a week, asleep on her dad around 7:30pm until he brings her to bed with me at midnight or when she wakes, we co sleep so she has free access boob all night.
Usually she wakes, feeds, we have a little play/do housework/go to Asda, she feeds again and then sleeps.

5:30 - wake and feed
7:00 - nap
9:00 - feed
9:30 - playtime
10:30 - nap
12:00 - feed
12:30 - play time
2:00 - nap
3:30 - feed
4:00 - nap
5:00 - playtime
7:00 - bath
7:30 - feed
8:00 - bed

It varies depending on him as he’s fed on demand, but that’s the rough routine. He’s 4 months old.

I didn’t have much routine at 3 months - it’s only settled in the last few weeks.

I don't think I really had one until 6 months ish.

But what I did find brilliant and will be using again with this baby is an app called Huckleberry.

I'd ignore the feeding and nappy tracking parts unless you particularly want to track these things (nb, it can be counterproductive to track BF times), but def fill in the sleep tracking, and let it turn on free nap alerts which it will do after 48 hours of tracking I think. It will then let you know when to put them down for a nap and it's absolutely magic, it really helped me get a sense of how much time I had between each sleep so I could look ahead and plan things.

In terms of activities I would not be expecting to do a whole lot with a 3 month old, they tend not to be awake for very long and their awake times are occupied with feeding and changing. When you do get a period of alert awakeness, they are often quite happy just chilling out looking at light through a window or lines on wallpaper or whatever.
