8 week vaccinations - how was your baby?

My DS had his 8 weeks vacs yesterday. Was horrible seeing him so upset when he had them Sad

Since then he's been very sleepy, he had the jabs at 5pm yesterday, had Calpol at the doctors and again 4hrs later at home as recommended by GP. They also told me to give another dose in the night if I felt he needed it.

He was upset when we first got home but has basically slept since then!

He woke slightly at 3am and was a bit warm so I gave him his 3rd Calpol and changed him into a vest to cool him down and then he slept soundly until 9am!

Since then he's been sleeping on and off and whilst he is taking milk he really doesn't seem that bothered about it and has been spitting up more than usual and falling asleep before he's finished.

Should I be worried? Sad his temp is okay at 36.5 although I think he feels warm to touch but not massively.

Aw bless him, they're so worth it but DS was the same after his. He was super sleepy for 48 hours or so, so just had relaxing days and followed his lead as to when he wanted to nap. That's fab he is drinking milk, even if just a little bit. As long as the calpol keeps his temp down and he's drinking still then I'm sure he will be feeling better very soon.

That sounds ok to me (caveat: not a doctor)

My DD was really upset and in pain after her 8 week vaccinations. It seems a lot to put their little bodies through. She also had the temp and was in a lot of pain which we think was rotavirus hurting her stomach.

Keep an eye on him, it does know them for six. If you’re still worried call 111 for advice but this all sounds pretty normal.

Hope he feels better soon

Thanks!

I'm not anti vac at all, and would always get them done, but it's so nerve wracking when it's your baby isn't it!

Never thought I'd say I want him to hurry up and wake up haha but poor little mite, just want to know he's okay.

My dd was absolutely fine, a little more sleepy but we just had sofa cuddles. Next day back to normal Smile

Mine were just the same OP. Quiet and sleepy for a couple of days x

Himawarigirl · 07/04/2021 14:18

My eldest was sleepy after hers but my youngest was v badly affected and pretty much cried solidly and couldn’t be comforted in any usual ways for a whole day. But sleepiness is also a normal reaction and was the one I was hoping for compared to what I got third time round!

MaverickDanger · 07/04/2021 14:21

He slept and ate more, and was fine the next morning.

Second round jabs tomorrow & he’s going through a really fussy leap so that’s going to be fun 🙈

Cried, slept. Whinged a lot! Not nice when baby is upset. Sad She was pretty inconsolable!

ScootOh · 07/04/2021 14:35

Thank you! Feel a little reassured then as seems normal Smile will keep an eye on temp just in case.

You'd think I'd have had the best night's sleep in 2 months last night seen as he was like a log all night but honestly I feel worse because I couldn't stop checking on him all night!
