Hi, i just don’t know what to think. Everywhere i read children by 15 month should talk at least few words. My 15 month old saying TETETE on everything and thats it. He does not say or repeat any other words. In all the other aspects he is fine, walking, understanding a lot, doing things as typican 15 month old. Just not repeating words as if he just physically can’t. Never heard saying mama, and im repeating it for like 8 month. My doctor do not say anything, but i think she just do not care too much. Should i look for help or should i wait? Just dont want to miss out

15 months is so early, I really wouldn't worry. If you're happy with his understanding, that's great - his speech will come. Wait until he's 2.

It's completely utterly normal.

THNG5 · 04/04/2021 18:06

Very normal so don't worry. My 22 month old is only just starting to say some words. She's my third and all 3 have been late talkers. My oldest only really started talking so you could understand when he went to nursery at the age of 3.
Like everything, you'll get early talkers and late talkers but certainly nothing to panic about at 15 months old.

At my DS’s 2 year check up, the health visitor was concerned about his lack of speech. We then realised what he did was point to anything he needed so was lazy, but did speak to us a bit. He walked at 11 months, was potty trained at 14 months. The health visitor rang 6 months later and had a lovely chat with him on the phone, so he did catch up.

Mines not two yet and doesn’t speak. She just babbles. So I called my HV and they discussed my options and referrals. I was quite impressed as I expected to be told to wait.

Sounds normal to me. My eldest didn't talk till 2.5yo, they only refer to SLT from 2yo here.

@medin hi there, how is your baby doing? I am going through the same thing right now with ym 15 months 🥲

Boymama123 · 07/11/2023 12:00

@Hellogc hi, how is your little one doing now? I’m worried about mine at 15 months

Hellogc · 07/11/2023 15:20

Hi, she is doing so well! She does not have lots and lots of words but her communication is amazing. She now has about 20 words! I know it is slightly less than average but the important thing is if the child is interacting! My LO copies our actions and she is interacting beautifully! She points to things and she always look at us to see our reaction. She shows various of emotions now which is so adorable!

@Hellogc Aw that’s great to hear. It’s amazing how quickly they can progress.
