Sickness and diarrhoea after 8 week jabs

Hi, after a bit of advice my LO had her 8 week jabs on Thursday and has had diarrhoea within a couple of hours of receiving them, she then started being sick yesterday. Is this normal or a coincidence that she’s got a bug? She’s taking milk fine, just miserable and sick. Should I be concerned? Plenty of wet nappies still and as I say drinking fine. Do I need to ring 111? Sorry it’s my first and I’m a paranoid freak 😂 any advice appreciated

It’s very common for baby to react after vaccination for a few days, particularly with diarrhoea. Have you checked her temperature to see if that’s ok.

Did they give her a little liquid thing at the same time? I can't remember what it's called but its to protect them against a sickness and diarrhoea and as a result, they can get it in the first 24hrs after having it. Completely normal.

Mine had a bit of diarrhoea after her 12 week ones. I checked on the NHS website and it's a common reaction to one of them (sorry, I forget which) so no need to worry about that. Personally I'd see how she goes with the sickness but do ring 111 if you're worried, they won't mind at all, it's natural to be worried with a tiny baby. (I rang 111 at about 6 weeks with mine because she had a slight cold and threw up loads - they were great and really reassured me.)

The rotavirus vaccine causes this. It’s normal but I can understand you being worried.

Always remember that a medic would rather check over your baby for your peace of mind than for something serious to be missed.

Thank you everybody. Her temperature is fine, will keep an eye on her. Happy Easter 🐣 x
