Aibu to lock my bin?

Every Monday the maisonettes behind me have their bins emptied. So there ends up a big silver bin thing outside my house. This is fine. It's just till the bin lorry picks it up.

My issue is I'm assuming one of the workers keeps coming onto my driveway and opening my bin to take maybe one or two small items out and then leaves the lid open for the rest of my rubbish to blow out and down the street.

This happens at 6am most times, I've seen him on my ring door bell and last time by time I'd got downstairs he had gone.

So I've purchased a bin lock. I shouldn't have to but here we are. I'm sure this guy thinks he's doing us a favour but it makes me feel quite uncomfortable to see him on the camera sifting through my bin!

I'm being ridiculous aren't I 😂

Why doesn't he just empty the bin completely? I get that he shouldn't be dealing with your bin at all, but why does he just take one or two things?

I'm guessing because at the time he does it the silver bin is full of the bin bags from maisonettes behind, my rubbish is collected on a Wednesday. This is basically a different street so a different collection day.

It's irrationally annoying me but hoping he sees the lock and takes the hint.

That or he starts on my recycling bin 🤣

Hopefully it only takes him seeing the bin locked once to take the hint. My bins are right near my front door so he comes right up to my house to do it.

He still tried to get past the lock. I called after him as they arrived later this morning. He has down syndrome as far as I can see so I feel a bit mean didn't know that before today. But still surely coming on to my driveway shouldn't be a thing anyway, he doesn't go to the neighbours bins. Just mine.

I've asked him kindly to leave my bin alone hopefully he does each week now. Can't believe he tried to get past the lock!!
