Wellies for wide calf toddler?

I can never seem to get ds wellies on his legs with his trousers tucked in, have just bought him a pair with a drawstring top but can’t help but laugh as the drawstring bit is redundant - can’t get them over his jeans!
Any wellies about that have plenty of tucking in room or do I need to just start cutting his wellies a bit shorter!

Rather than wellies, what about snow boots? They tend to be velcro fastening up the calf so offer more space and are still waterproof
