Advice 12 month old teething, fever 2 nights

Hello everyone,

Not my first rodeo with a teething child, however I am currently at my wits end.

My 12 month is a late teether, top right through, left is partially but no bottom teeth.
He's had his jab a week ago and was unwell from it over night with a fever over night, but Thursday this week he was off colour and woke with a temp of 38.6, and then 4am again today 38.4

He's been to the Dr's today, she can't find anything wrong. I can't see it being his jab again, so is it his teeth causing him all this pain and fever? I don't know what to do, he won't eat, barely drinks and just wants to lie on me or hit me.

The only other thing I can do is book him in for the dentist Tuesday to check these teeth that aren't coming through.

Thank you in advance

Poor little chap. I'm pretty sure I've heard of kids having side effects from the one year vaccinations around 7-10 days later. Might be worth a search for other threads?

In your shoes, I'd alternate paracetamol & ibuprofen to keep on top of the pain & fever, whatever the cause. Anbesol on the gums. Keep offering drinks and familiar foods but if he doesn't eat much for a couple of days he'll come to no harm.

My LO had a fever that came and went then came back again and she wasn't herself. She had an infection. It might be worth seeing another Dr

@PeacefulInTheDeep Thank you, The nurse said up to 3 weeks after, so 4 days later he had a fever and rash, the day after was still upset, vomited and not eating but recovered. But now we have this going on with zero symptoms but the fever.

Yeah this is literally what we are doing, I got anbesol on Thursday but even with that and Calpol he still screams. He's so happy in himself usually, it's just getting me a bit worried now.

@GLTM It's concerning me a bit, she did check him all over though and said the next step was urine sample but his wee doesn't smell and the only thing he wants is is his bottle so he's not exactly super hydrated.

My other LO never had a fever with his teeth, it's so bizarre.

Mine both had raised temperatures with their first few teeth, but not with the later ones. I'd be back to the doctor's if you don't see an improvement in a day or two.

TisforTucan · 03/04/2021 07:19

@PeacefulInTheDeep Ah that's reassuring and these are his first two so it would make sense.

His bottom teeth haven't come through at all. He had no fever last night so fingers crossed, but I'm going to ring the dentist anyway to check his bottom ones aren't causing the pain.

I'd say it's the jab not teething.

Teething can cause a slight raised temp but not a fever. It’s much more likely to be an infection of some sort and he could be teething as well. Have you done a covid test?

My little one had a fever on the day of her 12 months vaccinations which lasted for a couple of days. It then came back a few days later, albeit for only a day. She was not herself for the full four weeks, really clingy, wouldn't self settle to sleep, waking frequently. She even ended up with mumps side effects at the four weeks mark. She then started teething too but I'm sure the fever was linked to the vaccinations.

I took two at home pregnancy test that came out positive on Wednesday March 31st and they both came out positive. I then went to the doctors office the next day on Thursday April 1st to get a confirmation I took another urine test and it came out positive. The doctor predicted that I was around 4 weeks. I had very light bleeding that then started to come on to a little bit a a flow not to much like a period though. For the past few day I have been feeling very nauseous so I was seen today on Saturday April 3rd at the ER due to the fact I couldn’t hold down fluid or solids. I told them I was pregnant and showed them my doctor confirmation they proceeded to do a blood test and they said it came back negative. They told me to test writhin 3-5 days. I have been very confused if anyone could help me out it would me a lot. What could be the reasoning for this.?
