Three week old straining and trouble sleeping.

Hi everyone,

Our little boy is three weeks old and wonderful. However he seems to have a problem doing a poo. He will strain and strain and it will take a very long time for anything substantial to come out. His poos are normal, not hard or too watery. From research online this seems to be normal for a baby his age but this week it has really started impacting his sleep as when we put him in his moses basket he strains and won't sleep until picked up and even then often seems very uncomfortable. He seems very tired. Also during evening breast feeds he will be straining and getting very angry. He's been feeding much more the last few days so is going through a growth spurt I think.

Has anyone else experienced this and has any advice, particularly to do with getting him to sleep in his basket?

Congratulations on your new baby.

Google Infant dyschezia - it’s very normal.

I’ve had two babies and I have no idea how to get them to sleep in a basket. They just want to be next to you again get on google and look up the fourth trimester.
