Dropped Baby

A few weeks ago I dropped my 3 month old baby on the bathroom floor. I was momentarily distracted by her siblings and she jerked herself backwards and fell out my arms onto the hard floor. She is my 3rd baby and nothing like this has ever happened. I was devastated and phoned 111. And took her to A&E. She was completely fine in herself. She was checked over and they said she was fine. They didn't do any head scans. Now it's a few weeks later. She has been completely fine. Showing no other symptoms.... But she still has a bump that I can feel on her head. I've started googling things that can be wrong and it's made be so anxious and obsessed with the damage I might have done to her head. I plan to phone the GP this week and ask for them to check the bump. But I suppose I'm just looking for some reassurance, a change from googling every night and maybe a story to make me feel better. I am still absolutely devastated that it happened.

Gosh you poor thing, I’m sure she’s absolutely fine! If you took her to a&e and they didn’t want to scan her then I’m sure that’s because there’s no need to. If you’re really anxious and that’s the only thing that will allow you to ‘put this to bed’ then maybe push for a scan so that you know, in absolute terms, that she is absolutely fine!x

Thank you, that's really kind.

The first time one of my babies managed to move she fell off the kitchen table. Thankfully a chair broke her fall and she sort of bounced to the floor. I was peeling veg at the time and had her in a baby seat on the table next to me. I felt awful about it but she was fine!

Accidents happen, you did the right thing and your baby will be fine as per the doctors :) you could always ring them tomorrow for reassurance.

& story when my baby was 6 months he was in his high chair (not strapped in) and I clipped his tray in. I then went to pull the high chair towards me to feed him but I hadn't clipped the tray in correctly so I pulled the tray out and he fell forwards and out the high chair and on to the floor. He was fine. I was not. After hospital I bought a highchair with no tray 😂 even though it was my fault!
