Bath time angst

My 16mo loves the bath but for the past week she only wants to play in the water while standing butt naked outside of the bath and won't go in. For a few nights I put bubbles in the bath and fooled her into getting in but last night she screamed every time I tried to put her in and cling to the edges of the bath trying to escape like a wet cat but once out still wanted to play with the water. I just don't understand why she wouldn't sit in the bath and play!? She obviously needs washed and I dont want her to think that not having a bath is an option but I don't know what to do. I don't want to force her to have a bath and create negative associations.

We still bath her in a baby bath because we only have a shower and I would give her a shower only she won't stand still and I'm worried she would slip or if I was holding her that I would drop her.

My mum looks after her while I'm working and she has been playing a lot with her at the kitchen sink which she LOVES. I also think she doesn't want to go to bed and that might have something to do with it. Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to upset my LO but I also don't want her not to have a bath before bed.

Let her enjoy playing with the water whilst you give her a flannel. Children don't need a bath every day - its not great for their skin - a flannel and warm soapy water will do the trick.

*whilst you give her a flannel wash
