Accidents at School, please any advice!!

HI not posted here before but am running out of ideas. DS is nearly 4 and half been at school since Sept and is now full time following half term. Gone back this week and last 2 days has pooed himself in playground at lunchtime, sat in it all afternoon first day (supply teacher) but after chat with teacher this morning she noticed the smell! His excuse is he cannot get to toilets in time but they are right by the door. He was a complete nightmare to potty train, pooing in pants for several months and then progressed to stand up poos when weeing, which he has not done from ages but does still wet himself occasionally usually at friends houses. I cannot quite decide whether he is just lazy or my have a problem! I have dangled a sweet carrot for tomorrow if pants clean, any advice gratefully received.

Many children regress a bit when there is a change to their usual routine. Try not to make a fuss but introduce a star chart. When he gets through the day at school clean and dry give him a star and when he has an agreed number of stars give him a small treat. It should settle down when he has got used to the change of routine. If you get really worried try talking to GP or school nurse, they are usually pretty good.

I really don't think nappies is a good idea as you will be encouraging the behaviour you want to stop.

I think a lot of children go through this for a while until they settle at school. My ds wet himslef quite a few times in reception. The teacher just used to calmly hand me a tied up carrier bag at the end of the day.
I found threats and bribes had no real effect. He just stopped doing it in his own good time.
