How old is too old for Barbie?

Have bought a gift for a nine year old girl. Is Barbie still a thing at this age?

I asked for a Rockstar Barbie age 15 😳 She was so cool! I had to have one.

My soon to be 9 year old daughter loves barbie and has many items on her birthday wish list barbie related. Some of her friends love it, some have deemed it too babyish. Depends on the child.

My nearly 10yo plays with them with her 8yo sister. I'm not sure she's played alone with them for a while. (She mostly paints, crafts, reads and does Lego alone).

Absolutely! I played with Barbies til I was about 12 and I am a normal human being (I think).

My DD and her friend loved Barbie at 9, 10 ish.

That sounds like the sort of Barbie that has no upper age limit!

DD (9 and 3 quarters, lol) loves her barbies. She would NOT wear barbie themed clothes, but will play for hours with her barbie dolls and house. She and her friends all swap outfits and share photos of dolls dressed up for different occasions via face time. Good call!

Definitely! My 9yo DD loves hers. I remember enjoying them at that age too.

Barbies are a bit marmite I think; some girls love them, done are offended at the very notion. If she is a Barbie fan though, nine is definitely not to old!

I remember playing with them the most between 9 and 11.

Best to ask the parents what they're in to if you can, people buy our girls dolls and they can take or leave them. Mostly just clutter up the place.
