Newborn dry skin

My 8 day old baby has very dry flakey skin on her tummy, chest and armpits. Midwife recommended Vaseline but not getting any better. Any tips? Thanks

We used weleda range. The all in one bath/ shampoo once per week to make sure clean and then oil them up the day of bath and day after.
He was really peeling the first 2-3 weeks, then it just gradually decreased. He’s now fine having more regularly washes and we rarely have to oil up
