Hi,

Please can anyone help me understand this. Are all children entitled to this at the set age.. is it 3? Or do parents have to work a certain amount of hours? Or are there other criteria?

Thank you

The term after they turn 3 all children are entitled to 15 free hours education. This is for term time so 38 weeks of the year. The extra 15 hours only applies if both parents are working or a if a single parent they work and they must be working over a certain number of hours and earning under a certain amount.

It depends on where you live.
In Scotland it's all children over 3 but term time. You can use it in private settings it works out at about 22 hours over the full year or 2-3 days depending on how long the nursery day is.
