Does my baby have CMPA? Your experiences please

My little boy is 4 months old and displaying some symptoms of CMPA.

Symptoms include:

  • very sick (25-30 times a day)
  • eczema/dry skin
  • struggling to gain weight (dropped from 75 percentile at birth to 25th currently)
Another thing that makes me think it might be CMPA is that my husband is sensitive to cows milk and can’t drink it without getting digestive issues. He also has eczema and dry skin.

LO is breastfed but receives a bottle of formula every night before bed.

He’s a happy baby and doesn’t ever seem uncomfortable when he’s sick so this makes me wonder whether it is actually CMPA. Has anyone else LO’s had the same symptoms and been diagnosed with CMPA? I’m finding his sickyness really challenging in particular but really unsure whether this is down to an allergy or an immature digestive system.

Thank you

My CPMA baby was very unsettled and never ever happy before I cut out dairy at about 7 weeks and then there was a marked difference within a week. In contrast my other one who does not have CPMA was happy as Larry but sick all the time.

Could you cut out dairy and skip the formula (maybe expressed instead) and see if it makes a difference for a couple of weeks and then reintroduce?

CMPA, tired!

Yes, my baby had CMPA. Was mix feeding, baby always seemed bloated all the time too though. Really wish I knew the signs for CMPA earlier on as once I cut out the formula my baby stopped being sick. But every baby is so different and it can be trial and error at the best of times to find out what the issue is.

Sounds like it could be cmpa. The only way to tell is to drop the formula and go dairy and soya free for 6 weeks and see what happens.
