6 week old only waking once at night

I promise this is not a stealth brag...!!

Genuinely curious if this is normal or should I be worried?

My 6 week old only wakes once during the night. Always at the same time, about 3am.

He goes to sleep around 11:30pm, wakes at 3, back to sleep by 4 and then asleep until 9am most mornings.

Should I be waking him more? My friend thought I was crazy for suggesting waking a sleeping baby!

He's putting on weight fine and seems to make up for the time without a feed throughout the course of the day.

I’d say you’re very lucky and to enjoy it while it lasts! If he’s putting on weight fine and seems happy then I wouldn’t wake him!

Leave them! If they're not loosing wait they're fine. Obviously for a prem or low birth weight baby it would be different.

My baby slept right through the night from four weeks and I worried about this too, especially as there's little info online about babies who do this and people think you're winding them up.

Seriously enjoy it while you can because my baby stopped doing this at four months and wakes all the bloody time now Grin

I will say though if you're breastfeeding, just be mindful of clogged breasts, mastitis etc. I used to wake up with huge, solid boobs Envy and was hospitalised with mastitis when my baby was very young. I had to start expressing right before bed and as soon as I woke.

As long as he’s gaining weight and feeding well - no!! I had a similar issue and that’s what I was advised by midwives and breastfeeding clinic.
My dd was like this - compared to others newborn she slept amazingly....then she hit 6 months and hasn’t slept well since!!

I’m actually in the same position it with a 4 week old. Similar times asleep and waking and seems really content at night( probably just jinxed it!) he does feed like a beast in the day and much prefers to be up and doing something during the day. He has a little nap here and there but otherwise refuses to go down.
I think as our babies are putting on weight well we should take the win, as it may change at any moment!

Leave baby sleeping! My dd did the same and was sleeping 7-7 by ten weeks. You’re feeding him at 11 and 3 so that’s plenty. He will let you know if he needs more.

DD (now 16) was sleeping through by 7 weeks.

DS is 15 months and still isn't sleeping through.

Enjoy! I used to wake my first born to feed her as that's what we were told to do when she was brand new. One night I didn't wake up and neither did she, I woke at 8am in a panic. She was 6 weeks old. So I thought when are u supposed to not wake them anymore. So I decided from then on not to wake her and she'd sleep through 12-14 hrs. Aw she was a dream baby, my 15 month old still had me awake for an hour last night 😕

If he is having a good feed during the night feed and he is gaining weight and thriving then let him crack on sleeping 🙂

The first think that comes to mind for me is to talk to your baby's doctor. If they're not concerned, just be happy your baby is sleeping so well!

Absolutely nothing to worry about as long as there are no weight issues. My daughter slept through from 6 weeks until she was about 4 months. Unfortunately shes now back to waking twice a night again!
