Can I stop my 1yo pooing in the bath?

Five times in the last month she's been having a lovely bath with her brother and then she's suddenly done a massive poo. Whip them both out, fish out the poo, scrub the bath, huge tears all round. Sometimes I catch her "just in time" but there's always a bit out and she goes nuts at being interrupted (understandably!)

I don't want to bathe them separately. It would be such a pain and they love having their bath together. (And I'd still have to deal with a poopy bath!) But DS(nearly 3) has started acting funny around bathtime. If I don't put her in, he asks for her in. But when I do, within two minutes he's asking to get out. I don't blame him!

Clearly the lovely warm water is, er, relaxing her. But it's so incredibly frustrating. We let her wander round the bathroom a bit beforehand in case it's just dinner taking a bit of time to provoke things upstream but it's not helped.

Is there anything I can do?

Not sure how practical this will be but can you try and time baths for soon after she's already been for a poo?

Put her in a swim nappy.

Normally it's dinner then tidy up a bit then straight upstairs to the bath, then straight onto prayers, stories, etc. I can't give them dinner any earlier, they already eat at 4.30pm. I can't put her to bed any later, she goes nuts if we're much later than 6pm. Bathtime pretty much has to be timewise exactly when it is or not happen!

My daughter at around the same age went through a short phase of doing this much to my sons horror but it did pass quite quickly. Maybe a swimming nappy until she stops doing it?

MeadowHay · 20/03/2021 15:31

Put a swim nappy on her. Just whip it off before you get her out to give her nappy area a clean.

Oh my goodness, I'd never thought of a swim nappy! That's an ace idea, thank you!

I think this is just normal. Nice warm water... Quite relaxing. Mine started having massive poos in the bath recently. She's usually very proud of the mess she makes hahaha. It's just poo.

Is there a chance a bit constipated?
