Toddler back molars pain

Hello. My DS is 2 years and 3 months. Just got him settled into a reasonable sleep pattern after 6 months of hell and now I think his back molars are coming. I can see one on the bottom under the gum. Last night he woke 4 times and took and hour to get back to sleep each time and needed me or my DH to stay in the room with him.

Any advice? I'm confused what to do, I can't let him suffer alone if he's in pain but also I'm concerned he won't be able to sleep without us in the room again. I'm having baby number 2 in 6 weeks!

We've also recently taken the cot sides off his cot because he tried to climb out one night and got stuck so we were worried he would have an accident. What do other people do with a 2 year old who keeps getting of out of bed all night? Returning him to bed and closing the door ends in an hour of screaming and banging
