Allergy to what?

Son has come out in a allergy rash after dinner. Its all stuff he's had before.
He ate fish (haddock)
Chip
Cheese
Mushy peas
Tomato sauce. Different brand to normal.
Gave him a bath and it's coming down a bit. It's around his mouth too. Do I need to get him seen later or do anything else?

Hes happy still himself

My ds had a tomato intolerance when he was younger his cheeks & neck would get a blotchy red rash and then his eczema would flare up.

AlohaMolly · 19/03/2021 19:44

My DS would react a bit like that on his face with ketchup that has a high vinegar content. If it’s a different brand could you check that maybe?

Can you give Piriton? 1ml if under 1, 2.5ml of over 1

Allergytowhat · 19/03/2021 19:45

I only have stuff that's for over 2 all shops closed too.

Tomato

You can call 111 and ask if he can have Piriton - when my son was about 10 months old he had a similar reaction and we brought him to A&E, where they checked with a pediatrician and gave him Piriton. They also triggered the referral for an allergy clinic.
By the way, my son is also reacting to only SOME tomato sauces - which is odd and unexplained at the moment!

Could it be celery? Don't have the old bottle to look at ingredients but don't remember it having that in it

Gosh, that's quite a reaction. I really think you need to try and get hold of some antihistamine.

KingsRoad · 19/03/2021 19:58

Could it be celery? Yes, celery is one of the 'top 14' allergies.

Hartleyhare1206 · 19/03/2021 20:09

Totally check celery. My DD only reacts to certain ketchups. Can’t have Heinz but maccies own dipping pots were fine. We could never work out why until a nurse at her preschool
Booster jab mentioned celery! Low and behold it’s not in maccies sauce and is in Heinz. Tried tesco own brand and a nice tiptree one which were both celery free and she is fine with those too.
We don’t know for certain but we are reasonably sure it’s the celery and just check labels carefully to avoid it

I bet tomato. Give piriton asap if child is over 1.

Allergytowhat · 19/03/2021 20:27

Yeah celery is the only thing I don't think he's had before. He eats tomatoes fine. It's coming down alot without antihistamines. The bath seemed to help also lobbed some breast milk on it. Should I make a appointment with gp?

Yes, definitely.

fallfallfall · 19/03/2021 21:17

bathing actually makes it worse.
but what's done is done. trial and error.
good to keep the antihistamines on hand from now on.
