Really stupid question about kids teeth

So this is my only child, he’s 4 years old has a good diet. He had a dentist check up today, the dentist was great and said he has very healthy strong teeth. She then said something about his back teeth not come through yet but that’s normal and he will probably get them in a year before he starts getting adult teeth. So my really stupid question is how many teeth does your 4 year old have ? I thought my son had all his teeth already 🤦‍♀️ I’m woundering if I miss heard the lady, I’m really confused. It’s probably me being an absolute idiot though , so if it’s obvious please feel free to tell me.🤣

Hi - it's a long time since I was the tooth fairy, but I've had a quick look and it seems that there are 5 pairs of baby teeth in each jaw - two incisors, canine, two molars. Then the third molar is what will be the first of the permanent molars and starts to come in when the front teeth start to come out.

this picture is a bit full but should help!

They get their first adult molars around the age of 6. They are in addition to his 20 milk teeth not a replacement for any of them
