Nappy change nightmare - DS kicking my intestines!

God, it's getting really difficult, DS (15m) will just struggle and squirm and kicks me incessently in the stomach/boobs and to be honest with you it's starting to really, really piss me off.

On occasion I've had to wedge his ankles into my armpits to stop it but he doesn't like that and it's not the most help, especially when he's spinning round whilst covered in crap.

What can I do to make this easier, or is it just one of those things? I'd like to start trying for another baby soon, but how on earth do you cope with being pregnant and kicked in the stomach 5 times a day?! Thing is, he doesn't do it when his grandparents/childminder look after him, I don't think he even does it to his dad, just me.

My DD was the same - I'd try all sorts to distract her and it wouldn't help.

Eventually I bought a sheet of stickers and we would talk about them whilst she was being changed and got one at the end if she didn't kick.

She soon grasped the concept even at 15 months and it soon broke the cycle. I stopped after a while and now at 19 months the kicking has started to creep in again so the stickers returned quickly.

Hopefully this will help for you too?

Cheers Elfsmummy - anything's worth a try! He seems a bit obsessed with holding the baby wipes so I let him do that (even though it means that he pulls them all out and throws them), but he has such a short attention span I don't seem able to buy myself much time!

Any stickers in particular?

Could you try changing to pull-ups? Could change them standing and a bit quicker.

It is infuriating when they get to this stage.

Or just change him standing up - unless really dirty is usually easy enough and let them get on with what they were doing if you can.

Cheers ArmadilloDaMan - I use prefolds just to make my life really awkward! I might see if I can just whizz 'em on dead quick and see how that works. He's not one for standing still though!

ah what you need then is some kind of rack and some gaffer tape.

YOu lie him on the rack and tape him into the position needed.

You can leave him there if you need a bit of peace and quiet, tape over the mouth to stop the noise

Works every time

I'm not far off that... I can't believe how energetic he is, it's killing me!
