Days out - 5 seater car and DC bringing friends

What do people do about this? We've got 2 pre-teen DC and currently have a 7-seater car so we could take them + a friend each on days out. I want to get an electric car but 7-seater options are limited and not really suitable for various reasons.

Most people have a smaller car so this can't be an insurmountable issue. Take it in turns to bring a friend/ hire a bigger car when needed/ just don't bring friends?

I think most people don't bring friends if they've already got 2 children.

It’s very rare that we take friends on a day out. We are more likely to meet friends at our destination. I’ve got 3 kids & a 7 seater.

Isn't that the truth! Buy big car... pandemic strikes and all the football, cub camps, outings etc. that you bought it for are cancelled and you can't even take the kids to the playground 🙄

Can you not fit 3 across the back and one in the passenger seat? I only have a 5 seater and I’ve managed 3 children in mine - two in the back seat in a car seat and booster seat and one in the front in a booster seat. I’ve also squeezed an adult in between the booster seat and car seat in the back. It’s never been a problem. We just can’t take more than 4 people plus me anywhere, but really that’s fine, as I’m not running a taxi service.

Yes I could but that then excludes one of us adults. DH might not mind actually
