Babybjorn mini - how to fit for newborn

Hi, does anyone have any advice about how to adjust the mini carrier for a newborn? I’ve tried moving the back piece around so he’s sat higher on my chest but he still seems really hunched and his breathing is noisy unless I hold him. Have tried you tube and google. All the babies in examples are much bigger than Newborn. Not sure what I’m doing wrong as the whole point t of this carrier is it’s designed from birth. Thanks! X x x

It’s designed from birth only for babies that meet the minimum weight criteria as specified in the manual.

Thanks my baby is over the minimum weight.

Have you readjusted it at the bottom? I find it difficult to adjust but once we did it made a difference. They still seem tiny in it though to start, as long as their airways are clear, I’m sure you will be fine. Mine didn’t really seem to look normal in it until he was going on two months because they are still so small.

Ask your local sling library for fitting advice that’s personal to you. I used my local one and they helped lots. If you are willing to say where you are I can recommend one if your in the same area as me.

If he is hunched I dont think it's tight enough. Baby's spine shouldn't be in a C shape.

Thanks for replies - just saw them as for some reason not getting email notifications. The bottom part of the sling is on the smallest setting. Sling library would be great but unfortunately my local one is shut cos of Covid.

I’ve tightened it a lot and moved the back straps up higher. He’s sitting higher on my chest now but still feels quite hunched. Sometimes I hear him snoring when he’s asleep in it which worries me. I don’t know why they don’t make the instructions clearer for newborns as they market the sling as suitable from birth.

Thanks again x

My local one is doing zoom appointments so I don’t think it matters where you are? DM me if you want and I’ll send you a web address for the lady I use

It’s definitely worth asking if you are worried cos there is support out there
