I need help!!
My 3yr old little girls hair seems to be falling out, every morning when I do her hair there is more and more hair on the floor.
She is obsessed with having her hair in two french plaits and won’t let me take them out at night if I try she gets so upset 😭
She kicks and screams the house down if I do her hair any other way and I’m convinced it’s the plaits that’s making her hair fall out and her hair is very fine and struggles to grow as it is.
Is it the plaits? Is there something I can try over the counter vitamins or shampoo that with help her hair to grow??

Please help!

First take her to the GP.

Secondly stop plaiting her hair in french plaits.

Also your daughter should be taking multi-vitamins daily - www.nhs.uk/conditions/baby/weaning-and-feeding/vitamins-for-children/

As above maybe take her to buy some lovely headbands instead. It’s normal for hair to fall out all of the time but you don’t always notice it because it’s spread out through a he day. If her hair is tied back all the time it will all come away when you brush it because the plaits have been holding the hair which has fallen out in place making it look like she is loosing more than the average child.

The reason to take her to the GP is so you get an assessment to see if there are any underlying issues that could be causing the hair loss.

Her hair could be falling out due to traction alopecia so you should avoid plaits or tightly pulled back styles until you find the cause (if you do) of her hair loss. When you do go back to plaiting or putting her hair in bunches then make sure you don't pull the hair back tightly.
