What should my toddler wear to bed - sleeping bag to duvet?

We're in the process of changing 2.5yo DS from a sleeping bag to a duvet and pillow, but I don't know what to dress him in?

His room starts off at about 21 degrees and goes down to 16/17 overnight. The heating is old and loud so we don't have it on overnight. His new duvet is a 4 tog.

For context, the whole winter to date he's been in just a long sleeve vest and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and he's been nice and toasty.

Will just long sleeve and long leg cotton pjs be OK? Should he wear socks or bare feet? Or a vest underneath? Do I need to buy fleecy pjs or a sleepsuit?

Tonight is going to be the first night for our 2.5 year old DS in his new bed and he has previously been in a sleeping bag and cot. He has a new 4 tog single duvet and will be wearing pj's (non fleecy) and no socks. We live in a new build so its very warm at night about 20 degrees and it's very rare it goes below 18.

He did used to sleep in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag with pj's. I am really hoping he sleeps but he does seem to like his new digger bedding. I don't think you will need fleecy pj's or a vest but you could try some socks in case his feet get cold. Good luck with his first night in his bed.

Mine wears pyjamas with a t-shirt underneath. He has a 4 tog toddler duvet and a blanket.
His room temperature is probably between 19 and 15 degrees c.

MY DS is 2.5 and he's been in a normal bed with a 4 tog duvet and a pillow since he was two. He just wears PJs. Long sleeve top and bottoms PJs.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to just go with the PJs and maybe a pair of socks, and keep tucking him in until we go to bed. We tried it for his nap earlier and he was really excited about having his own covers, but he did end up completely out from under the duvet after about 30 minutes!

That happened to my DS for a month or so! He would end up out of the covers most nights but it was fine, he had socks and pjs on. He's fine now and stays under all night :)
