Hey mums..

My almost 2 year old can climb over all cots, I have purchased a toddler bed. She will not stay in bed.. Before she climbed the cot she was sleeping independently..

What do do??

Thank you

Ride it out. We went straight to a single mattress on the floor at 2yo. Put a stair gate across the door so they couldn't go wandering about. It was a novelty for a week or so, they'd get up, play, but soon just got the hang of it. We made sure the room was toddler proof. Held the boundary, calming putting them back to bed, minimal fuss. Now, aged 3.5, they get into bed themselves at bedtime and stay there all night unless they need the loo. If they wake early, they get up and play until we go in to help get them ready.

Ride it out I guess, mine stays in her bed and always has since she actually started sleeping in it somewhere between 12 and 18 months, she just happens to wake up a lot (every 1-4 hours) in the night and cry and shout for me, she's a 2 and a bit now. But she won't get out unless I don't come get her for a while, then she's a mess.

The novelty should wear off eventually.

Slightly different but my DS kept getting legs stuck through bars of his cot, and had also fallen out, but would not stay in toddler bed. We switched to a travel cot with a proper mattress in. The mesh sides meant he couldn't get stuck and was more difficult to climb out. Hes just learnt how to do it now, but it bought us around a year of extra time. Might be worth a try if she is really refusing the bed.

And to add to the above poster's message, a sleeping bag might help? My toddler can climb out too, but not in her sleeping bag.
