What age would you let your child

Sleep on a different floor to you?
We have a bungalow with 2 bedrooms downstairs currently me and DH in one and DD in the other next door to us.
If we had another baby it would be in with us for a while and then either share next door with DD for a few years or DD would move to the upstairs bedroom.
Has anyone got a similar experience and how it worked?
What age would you feel comfortable having your child on another floor to you?
I feel better that we would always be on the ground floor and not upstairs and kids downstairs.
We have high spec security alarms, 24/7 cctv and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in every room.
Thank you 😊

We moved to a three storey house when DD was 1 and she went straight into her new room which was upstairs and across the landing from ours. Of course she was still in her cot then and we had a stair gate across the top of the stairs. I don’t hear well so we still had to monitor too (plus needed for when we were downstairs in the evenings).

When we were looking at houses ready for DC2, we discounted any with bedrooms in different levels.

Honestly, DH and I are worriers! We would fret if they were on a floor below us that any intruders would reach the children before us. We worried that in the event of a fire we could have children trapped in an upper storey from us.

Both very unlikely but we both felt uncomfortable about it.

Ours have been on a floor above us since they were 2 and 3.

I cant imagine having bedrooms on the same floor now, we like to make a little noise in our room now and then!

I know some might think I'm bonkers but we've a 3 storey town house and I'm really not comfortable with my 2 or 3 year old sleeping on a different floor , in case there was a fire or they needed me at night and attempted stairs (yes we do have stairgates 🙈). We are moving soon anyway and I've said I want a 2 storey house for that reason plus I find living over 3 storeys a bit exhausting !
