Should I tell the teacher a boy spat at my DD?

DD is in reception so only 4. She came home today saying that a boy in her class spat at her. I asked her where and she said it was on her cheek and she wiped it off with her sleeve. She said that she told him that wasn’t very nice and he laughed. She says the teacher did not see.
I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to make her teacher aware of it. They are only in reception but I still feel that a 4/5 year old should know not to spit at people. Is it over the top to notify the teacher?

Yes.

To clarify, tell the teacher.

Tell the teacher. She/he needs to be aware for multiple reasons but also because of the covid risk

I work as a midday in reception, I hear this a lot. When a child days they were spat at by another child, they usually u mean they had a raspberry blown at them. It's so common at this age, I'd let this blow over tbh, even though I know it's not pleasant

Yes.

If it's spitting - and sometimes it is - most schools now have a re-written behaviour policy in the light of coronavirus and spitting is a big no-no.

Yes say something. Either there’s a spitter in the class or your child is telling fibs. Either would need to be dealt with.

Mention it to the teacher but it may have been accidental when he was speaking.
