First time poster!

My 4 month old DD was a big baby when born (9lb 4oz) on the 91st percentile. She has been formula fed since 4 weeks old (bf difficulties) with feeding always been a challenge, she has struggled with reflux and frequent projectile vomiting since a few weeks old, she’s been on omeprazole for a few months and the vomiting has settled down although she still constantly spits up after her feeds and up to hours after but this is much better than the full feeds she used to throw up! She does seem more settled during feed times and after trialing just about every bottle and teat on the market we have settled on tommee tippee bottles with variflow teats which seem to agree with her. However the issue is she will only ever take a maximum of 5oz bottles, most of the time only 3-4oz and will not want more for at least 3 hours so her Intake is anywhere between 20-30oz a day but never more, she seems happy enough and is sleeping good stretches overnight but this seems so little compared to other baby’s of her age and especially for her weight. She is slowly dropping her percentiles and now sits just above the 50% line but she just isn’t interested in taking more.

Sorry for the long post I just worry so much that she isn’t taking enough and will keep dropping her weight but I just can’t seem to get her to take more! Anybody had a baby who took less than the recommended and still thrived?

Hi there my baby was born 10lb 4oz and didn't take nearly enough as much as the GP said he needed however he never dropped percentile lines so not too sure on that one.

DD1 was a nightmare feeder . I'd say she never ever finished a feed. I was so stressed at the start but she thrived and is now a hale and hearty eight year old. It was like she just had no interest in milk. Once she moved onto solids it was a whole different scenario and she loved her food. She still hates even the smell of milk.

Has anyone discussed the possibility of CMPA with you? It does sound like it could be the cause.

I had wondered about CMPA as she does also have eczema, but my hv doesn’t seem to think so, she doesn’t have any other symptoms like diarrhoea, coughing or wheezing. Her reflux seems to be under control with the omeprazole, she’s much more settled during and after feeds just doesn’t seem to want much. She’s always been an excessively windy baby, can easily do up to 10 big burps+ Multiple spit ups for just 4oz of milk but she seems to bring her wind up well now that’s she’s older so don’t know if this is the issue.

My little one didn't have many symptoms and has got CMPA although he was ebf , his only symptoms were eczema and in hind sight green poos. Might be worth asking GP? My HV brushed off my concerns with his green poos as a newborn and said " if there are no other symptoms..." But then obviously the eczema came out a couple months later.
