Head lag at 12 months?!

DD has just turned one. She's been at the slower end of normal for most of her milestones - she only sat well at 11 months and has only just within the last week started responding to her name, for example. HV has been in regular contact and isn't too concerned about anything at the moment.

Something that bugs me is that whenever DD is picked up from laying on her back, her head still flops behind her a bit - she doesn't bring it up in line with her shoulders. She definitely can do it - she's nearly walking and her head isn't floppy at all normally. But I read that this can be a sign of autism, and along with other small things like not pointing yet, I'm a little bit worried. Does anyone know if this is something to be concerned about?

Have you been watching those outrageous YouTube videos on early autism signs?

I was terrified after watching those and convinced myself mine was really behind. The questionnaire said he should be able to follow basic instruction like “bring me X toy” Shock When we had his health check i was told he was spot on and he didn’t do some of the things on the list.

He’s just turned 1 and he doesn’t point at things, and he didn’t say “mama” until last week, nor did he wave until yesterday.

All babies are so different. He’s my first but honestly I’ve learnt to try and not worry about these things, especially if the professionals aren’t worried.
