Hi all

My child is 4 months and every night she is put down to bed in her next to me crib in our room she cries so we have to rock it til she drops off.

Soon she will be 6 months and put in her own room in her big cot which doesn’t rock... how will we go about getting her to sleep?!

White noise, routine etc is all done but rocking is the only way when she is in cot alone.

Please help only 6 weeks to go...!!

Just gradually phase out the rocking. Start to rock it slower and work towards stopping before she is completely asleep. Then stop rocking a bit sooner then a bit sooner. You can try shushing and patting too.

@Firsttimemummybear we are exactly the same with a 4 month old!! I was wondering exactly the same thing. For his naps he goes down in his moses basket in the living room which I also rock!!!

Tough isn’t it - it’s the only way she settles at night time I’ve tried everything else... uh oh! X

I was like this a few weeks ago with DD (now 20 weeks). She had to be rocked in my arms for every nap and woke if put down. But she slept fine at night.

I gradually just phased out the rocking, just getting less each time. Then starting placing her down for naps, and not rocking. Took a few days of me picking her up, putting her down, shhh and patting , but she has learnt to self settle now without any motion.
