Tips for taking photos of more than one DC?

Put this here are not sure if really falls under any category!

Coming up to christmas I was looking for a good photo of all 3 DC to give for christmas - realised haven't got any of them all looking the same way/not blurred/eyes open/smiling. Other than going to a photographer whats the best way of getting a good photo?

hi! i have enough trouble getting dd to sit still and smile let alone three! dont know if you have tried it and not sure if it would work but it works when im taking pictures of my horse- my digital camera has a button that when i press it it takes 6 pictures every half second, i would think that if you got all children sitting on sofa (or maybe a bench on a nice day outside) and had such a button on your camera that you could just tell them on the count of three yell CHEESE!!!!! surely one of them would be good??!! or you could always go for a less formal approach and catch them when they least expect it.

Try putting the camera on a tripod (or a pile of books/table/shelf whatever), so you can come out from behind it and "orchestrate" the shot - and yes agree with Olsmum - that "multiburst" (I think that's what it's called) feature on some digi cameras is ace for getting natural shots.

I wanted to do this last year with my dd who was 3 and ds who was 3 months.

I set up some cushions on the floor with a blanket so that ds was propped up and it looked nice and then tried to get dd to out her arm around ds.

Well I must of tried for what seemed like hours.

In the end I took a mistake photo where dd was trying to move ds's head around with her hand but shes doing it ever so gently and looking right at him and he's looking back and do you know what, its the most amazing photo.

All the family who got it absolutely love it.

So you dont have to have them starring at the camera and all perfect smiles to get a great pic.

What ages are your DC loler?
You could get them all lying on their fronts facing you, or biggest one in the middle with arms huggin other two...or are we talking young children?

Ngb your pictures are amazing as soon as dd spots the camera she puts on a huge cheezy grin even thogh she only 18mo

Nbg - really is a lovely photo - guess it is all luck and taking loads of photos! Love the beagle photo too - we've got one too, begining to lots of other people with them. Aren't they just fab with kids (only downer with the beagles we've had is their obsession with fox doo!).

Spag - they are 4, 2 and 9 weeks. 2 year old doesn't ever sit still and 4 year old has 'just started school' attitude problems. Keep getting lovely photos of the baby though!

Oh wow at you having a Beagle!!!
Ours is nearly 7 now. Have to admit he's a bit of a bugger now we've moved nearer to the country.
We call him Houdini sometimes. His nose takes him anywhere!

I think for your photos you should just go mad one day with the camera whilst they're doing something and I bet you get a real gem in there somewhere.

So...think I got a really good photo. Used the multiburst, took about 200 photos and was really quick.

Think this will be the format for christmas photo from now on!
