Cold sore with baby

I have been kissing and snuggling baby all morning. She's two months old. I've just looked in the mirror and realised I've woken up with a cold sore.

Obviously had I known it was there I wouldn't have been kissing her. I'm now paranoid she's going to get really ill as I googled it and read so much about how it can be fatal.

Any thoughts or advice?

Are you breastfeeding as this will pass antibodies?

I would keep an eye out as now you know you have one and not kiss again until it’s gone.

It's easy done and yes, the Herpes Simplex virus can be fatal BUT it is rare so try not to worry yourself too much.

Keep an eye out for anything listed here on the NHS facts page and just be mindful now :)

@OverTheRainbow88 no I'm not breastfeeding. She's formula fed.

I would probably contact your gp, just to get their guidance. I have the herpes virus and due with my first baby soon, generally what I've found out from speaking to dr and research is that the virus is most contagious when you have an active blister and have direct contact with it or during the shedding stage which is after the blister has scabbed over so hopefully it's all ok. Also as you have the cold sore virus and I would guess have had it prior to baby she probably picked up some antibodies in the womb!
Try not to worry though it's such a common virus and as you didn't have an active blister at the time she'll hopefully be completely fine Smile try get yourself some anti virals to clear it up quicker so you can resume kisses!
